🌹✨ The Cefn Remembrance Sunday 2024 ✨🌹

Yesterday, our community gathered in a powerful display of unity, pride, and respect at the Cefn Mawr Cenotaph. Over 300 residents came together on Plas Kynaston Lane to witness a moving service, standing side by side in honour of the brave souls from Cefn who served and sacrificed in the First and Second World Wars 🌍❤️.

The Annual Remembrance Sunday Service reminded us of the strength and togetherness that defines Cefn. Led by Reverend Kate Tiltman, with contributions from Councillor Mrs. Sonia Benbow-Jones, Councillor Derek Wright, Maisie Carman, Miss B. Grey Davies, Mr. D.C. Roberts, and students from Ysgol Min-Y-Ddol, Ysgol Rhosymedre, Ysgol Acrefair, and Ysgol Cefn Mawr, the service filled the morning with warmth and reverence . Our hymns, accompanied by the inspiring sounds of Brass with Class, carried our gratitude and respect skyward.

Wreaths, each laid with love and care, were placed by:

  • Chairman Mr. Phil Vaughan of Cefn Community Council
  • North Wales Police
  • Ruabon Air Cadets
  • MP Steve Witherden of Montgomeryshire & Glyndwr
  • Kim Edwards, sister of Wayne Edwards, a fallen soldier in Bosnia 1993
  • Ysgol Rhiwabon
  • The CRNCA (Cefn, Rhosymedre & Newbridge Community Association) Cefn Mawr Historical Society
  • Cefn Mawr Christian Fellowship
  • Cefn & Dee Valley News
  • Friends of Ty Mawr
  • Cefn Mawr Tesco
  • We Are Plas Madoc
  • Cefn Albion FC
  • Maelor Boxing Club
  • Francis Roberts Funeral Directors
  • Festival Fireworks
  • Peter Green Ground Care
  • Cefn Branch Labour Party
  • Community Wellness CIC
  • Blind Veterans UK
  • Llangollen Maelor Angling Club
  • Wrexham Scooter Club

After the service, the community gathered at George Edwards Hall, where we enjoyed a warm buffet, tea, coffee, and musical performances by Ysgol Min-Y-Ddol’s School Choir and Raise the Roof Choir 🎶☕️. The hall was filled with camaraderie and pride, a powerful testament to the spirit of Cefn—a community where we come together to remember, support, and celebrate one another.

This memorable day would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of so many. We extend heartfelt thanks to:

  • All the schoolchildren who participated
  • Quantum Traffic Management
  • Ysgol Min-Y-Ddol’s School Choir
  • Raise the Roof Choir
  • St. John’s Church Ladies for supporting with tea and coffee
  • Our Cefn Community Councillors
  • And a very special thank you to our Clerk, Trina Nicholls-Smith, whose passion and dedication brought this beautiful event to life.

Yesterday was more than just a remembrance—it was a profound display of our community’s love, unity, and pride. Together, we remembered, honored, and celebrated the legacy of those who sacrificed so much for us ❤️🌹.
